What is EDI (Electronic Data Interchange)?
EDI is the electronic exchange of business documents between retailers and brands in a standardized format – without paper, emails, or manual entry. This includes purchase orders, order confirmations, delivery notes, and invoices. EDI also allows you to share your sales or inventory levels with suppliers, thus automating the ordering process.
How does EDI work?
Instead of manually sending or processing orders, invoices, or shipping notifications via email, fax, or mail, documents are exchanged via a secure EDI connection. The data is transmitted in a uniform format, ensuring both parties always have all the necessary information at their disposal.
Why EDI at ECC?
The ECC is a GS1 Solution Partner. This means you can rely on the greatest possible standardization.
Once set up, you can communicate with all EDI-capable trading partners. No additional setup effort required, as the ECC has already set up the appropriate data highway. Using the data exchange agreement (DAVe), you determine which EDI messages should be exchanged with which trading partner. The ECC then configures the data traffic for you individually.
